For most of
us, our CV is possibly the most important document we will ever produce.
It is a document so
important that once posted or e-mailed it can dictate
the rest of our lives.
If it does the job it
was painstakingly produced to do, you get the opportunity to sell yourself at
interview and tell a prospective new employer what you can do for them.
If it does not, and you are lucky, you will get what I know as a Dear John letter.
In other words your CV did not do its job for you.
It let you down,
"Good morning. Pleased to meet you." didn't happen.
Your CV decides if you
get the interview, which could get you the job, which will probably change
everything you have done with your life so far.
How anyone could
consider having such an important document produced by a stranger astounds me.
About
me:
As
a Recruitment Consultant who has literally thousands of candidates to select from, I do more
including and excluding of contenders than any HR Person ever will. I do it
with your CV and if your CV does not do its job for you I am twice as likely to
delete you from a short (long) list of potential candidates than any HR Person.
I have spent the last seven years as a
Recruitment Consultant and prior to that I spent lots of money paying them as a
manager of a department within a PLC. From the success I have gained as a
Consultant, and having recruited staff into my departments, it would appear I
have discovered a formula for a CV that should dramatically increases its
ability to do its job for you. Put you, in your best suit, in front of a
prospective employer.
A better indication of what I have achieved is that I work for a Consultantcy
that has been established for almost forty years. Within 2 1/2 years I managed to
individually grow the financial turnover of the Consultantcy to a point where I
was personally producing annual turnover figures, almost equal to what the
whole Consultantcy had produced prior to my arrival. As I had never worked in a
dedicated sales environment prior to this point, I was proud to have adapted my
skills to this new area so well. I find approximately 70 candidates a year a
new position. One very important point is that the recruitment industry has an
interview to CV sent out ratio of approximately 25%. From the positions I have
filled, I have an interview to CV sent out ratio of 91%.
I put
this success down to three main factors.
The
fact that I know the industry I am recruiting into.
My communication
skills.
And
the advice I offer my candidates about how they should put their CV together
and the information it should and should not contain.

You
may recall the 100% mouse killing system which sold in its thousands. You
remember; it goes something like this:
For £20.00
(or whatever) the seller claimed he had a system, that was 100% effective at
killing mice. You send your money and he sent you instructions. They said.
Place mouse on a house brick and hit with a second brick. Very effective, but
not very moral?
Even though this method of killing mice did work, this site is not one selling a spoof product such as this.
What
am I Offering:
I
will read your CV.
If, having read it, I feel it and you will NOT benefit
from the information I am offering, I will send you an e-mail telling you that
I do not feel your CV would benefit from any changes
I am suggesting.
If, once I have read your CV, I think that you
would benefit from some of the changes I am suggesting then I will send you an e-mail
telling you that I feel I can help and requesting you forward the agreed sum.
What
you will receive is not 2 pages of text but an Information Pack.
A document with 20 pages of instructions of what to do, not to do and how to structure
your CV, not only to get you the interview you want but also to lead your interviewer
down a path of questions you want to be asked.
Notes on the Interview it,s self, Covering letters, how to handle agencies
so they do their job better for you. Structure, headings and sub headings for
your CV. Suggestions for Profiles all combining into an amount of information
which is far more in-depth than you would imagine for the cost.
If you are sent
the information you will need it and will benefit from it.
The sceptics of you out there will be thinking that it might
be uneconomical of me to do anything other than send out the information for
every CV I receive, possibly never reading any CV's sent to me.
I wish those people luck with their careers and hope they
get all the interviews they need.
Bluntly, there are no refunds, as I will not send the information
to you unless I genuinely feel you will benefit from it. Yes, if you want the
information you will have to trust me and believe how successful I have been as
a Recruitment Consultant. I hope you will read all I have written and conclude
that it is not written by someone trying to make a fast buck (Pound), but
someone who is genuinely trying to help ordinary people get the job they really
want, or need, and an individual who is not charging such an amount for the information to
be able to make a living at it. The amount is considerably less than most, if not all companies, who
would offer to produce your CV for you.
In my opinion, some of the worst CV's I see, and I can read
100+ a day, are the ones, which people have paid to have produced.

If your CV is truly going to do
it's job for you, YOU have to take the time to produce it.
Included within the Information
Pack I will send you is lots of information with reference to layout, format,
what you must have in your CV and, importantly, what you must not put in it.
Also some of the more obvious stuff referring to interviews and the do and donts.
You would be surprised at some of
the things people write in their CV. The temptation to give examples from the
CV's I read all day was hard to overcome but one of the points with recruitment
is total confidentiality. On this point I do not need to have your personal
details, address, date of birth on the CV you send me (knowing your age might help me thought).
I am sure you will feel more comfortable not sending me this
type of information.
I don't need it to decide if I can help.
If you dont trust me then dont request the information. If
you do trust me then I feel that £25.00 is an amount I would have readily
risked when I was looking for a new position, if I felt it would improve my
chances of being interviewed for the job I really wanted.
You might like to take a look here as a comparison?

I look
forward to being able to help you and hope I can.
